About the platform
The Petronius Compliant Tower is a deepwater oil and gas production platform operated by Chevron. Its compliant tower design allows the structure to flex slightly with wave and current forces rather than rigidly resist them, making it well suited to extreme deepwater conditions.
At the time of installation, it held the record as the world's tallest free-standing structure. The full structure reaches 2,100 ft from the seafloor to the tip of the flare boom, sitting in 1,754 ft of water.
